The Press Release below is the official statement by PROTON cars on the recall of its turbocharged engine models. PROTON has taken precautionary step to provide a Service Fix on the Oil Cooler Hose in all its turbo-charged powered models. The models involve are the Proton Exora, Suprima S and Prevé. This initiative is undertaken as part of our brand new promise and our continuous commitment in engaging with the customers.
The Oil Cooler Hose will be changed by the authorised Service Centre FREE OF CHARGE if the car has reached 40,000 km. The reason for this is that the hose, made out of rubber actually requires a change every 40,000km due to heat wear and tear. It should have been stated in the service manual but somehow this wasn't clearly stated. I suppose this is due to the lack of experience running turbocharged models.
A long term fix is in line where the hose in question will be made out of metal instead of rubber. Once this is done, it would be a permanent one instead of a new hose every 40,000km.
Transparency and honesty. This is PROTON making a more serious effort. Much more than before.
