Volkswagen Golf 1.4TSI upgraded for Malaysia

Volkswagen Malaysia has announced the upgraded 2016 Golf with new and added features at a lower price for the Malaysian market. There will be two variants – the Golf Highline which will be priced at RM159,888* and the Golf Comfortline priced at RM 149,888* (prices do not include registration and insurance).

Added features for the Golf Highline include Keyless Entry & Push Start, Park Assist (self park systems) and Rest Assist (driver fatigue alert system), 17 inch Madrid alloy wheels and tyres (up from 16inches), LED tail lights and different interior fabric. Comfortline will not have all of the goodies mentioned above with the exception of maybe the fabric pattern. But the most fun would be the extra 10hp that the 1.4liter engine now makes - 150hp instead of 140hp giving the 7 speed DSG equipped Golf A 0-100kmh of 8.2seconds and a 216kmh top speed. 6 different colours are available - Limestone Grey, Sunset Red, Pure White, Deep Black, Pacific Blue and Tungsten Silver. 

I think the extra 10 horses comes at a good time with Ford launching the new Focus that comes with 180hp and very high levels of specification. Price is competitive too. The upgrades come at quite the right time in order to compete with the likes of the Focus.

GOLF PACKED WITH ADDED FEATURES

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 March, 2016– Volkswagen Malaysia is pleased to

announce the upgraded Golf with new and added features at a lower

The upgraded Golf 1.4 Highline, priced at RM 159,888* comes with:-

 Added Technology Features

The upgraded Golf offer drivers simplicity in driving with added

advanced technology and the best of German engineering.

One of the newly added feature is the Keyless Entry & Push Start

(KESSY) engine start-up technology that permits drivers to start a car by

just   pressing a button without inserting a key into the ignition.

Additional useful features such as Park Assist and Rest Assist were

added to further enhance the overall driving experience. These features

give drivers the convenience of having the car to park itself with a touch

of a button leaving only the pedal work to the driver; and a state-of-the-

art fatigue detection system that senses fading concentration levels

by intelligently measuring your pedal and steering-wheel use.

 Facelifted Design 

Upgraded to 17” Madrid wheels, the upgraded Golf not only looks

better but also provides a steady drive for drivers. In an effort to

enhance safety, LED tail lights have been fitted for better visibility on

the roads.

The upgraded Golf also offer drivers a sportier feel with the new sport

seats with “Mel Stripe” fabric for better grip and hold, allowing drivers

to be seated and fitted comfortably when driving.

 Engine and Performance

The upgraded Golf’s 1.4L TSI turbocharged direct petrol injection 4-

cylinder petrol engine now has an increased output of 150PS, a 10PS

increase from the outgoing model and a maximum torque of 250Nm

accelerating in from as low as 1,500rpm to 3,500rpm. The engine is

paired with a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) enabling it to

accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 8.2 seconds and reaching a maximum

speed of 216kph.      

Connected with the best German engineering, it allows drivers to

experience a safe, smooth and better gear shifts, contributing to better

fuel efficiency. Having both TSI and DSG technology places Golf at a

platform of fuel efficiency, enabling drivers to drive a distance of

approximately 20km per litre returning a thrifty 5.0litres/100km.

The upgraded Golf is now available in both Highline and Comfortline for

booking at all authorized Volkswagen dealers and comes in 6 different

colours - Limestone Grey, Sunset Red, Pure White, Deep Black, Pacific

Blue and Tungsten Silver.
