Hyundai Sime Darby Motors had decided that My Auto Fest 2016 would be an appropriate time to preview their latest hybrid car in Malaysia. The Hyundai IONIQ is the company's first full hybrid plaftorm that comes in three forms - the IONIQ Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid and the Full Electric. They had the IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid on display for all to see.
Powered by a 1.6liter engine that makes 105hp and an electric motor that churns out another 32hp, the IONIQ is styled in the latest Hyundai fluidic styling but it also has a number of familiar styling cues that most hybrid cars from other brands have. This is basically the Kamm-tail hatchback and the similar aerodynamic profile you tend to see in them. It does look fresh especially when viewed from the front. Hyundai is still quiet on when the car will be sold in Malaysia. I had found out that the brand may be launching something after the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil-Fitri celebrations. So we're looking at the middle of the third quarter for any new Hyundai stuff. Wait and see I suppose.
So discounts on Hyundai cars at the My Auto Fest 2016 are the Hyundai Elantra at RM14,000 discount. The Veloster and Sonata at RM12,000 discount. The Santa Fe at RM7,000 off (I do wish this were more actually. Nice car, but at over RM170,000). The i10 with a RM4,500 discount. The new Tucson (above) was only recently launched. But do ask and see if there are any offers. There are test drives of Hyundai outside the event hall also.
The MY AUTO FEST 2016 is on from today till Sunday, 22nd of May 2016.
