PRESS RELEASE
SEOUL, 15 th MAY 2016 - Asia's leading female racer Leona Chin, fresh from her first ever podium
finish in Zhuhai in March, scored back-to- back 2nd positions at the 2nd leg of the Renault Clio Cup
China Series, which was held at the Korea International Circuit yesterday and today.
Competing in her unmistakable bright pink Team WebTVAsia car, Leona started both races at 2nd
spot next to overall series leader and Korean leg winner Kenneth Lim. However unlike the Zhuhai
stop where she had difficult track conditions, Leona adjusted much better this time, never
relinquishing her top two positions.
Race 2 saw the more exciting contest with Leona going for the jugular from the start by overtaking
Kenneth immediately, sparking a neck-to- neck race for over 5 laps before conceding the lead. The
Malaysian kept her cool and romped home second ahead of Ma Hon Wah.
“I pushed myself hard today knowing there’s a good chance of winning. Kenneth is always a tough
competitor so I am happy to have improved from 3 rd (in Zhuhai leg) to 2 nd in Korea. For sure I will aim
for the top spot again in the next race in Buriram, Thailand,” said Leona during the post-race
interview.
The Clio Cup Series travel to its third stop of a 6-leg Asia tour at the Chang International Circuit,
Thailand on 11-12 June. The championship will then return to China for the remaining races in
Chengdu, Shanghai and Zhejiang. Leona is the only female driver in the Korea round of the series.
