FYI

DID YOU KNOW the inventor of basketball came from Almonte? You can have a photo op with the James Naismith Statue in the downtown square. Take the walking tour of Almonte which was once known as Manchester of Canada because of it's thriving woolen mill industry. Make a stop on Saturday to visit the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum with its collection of factory woolen mill history situated in a stone building on Coleman Island at 3 Rosamond St. East. Almonte can boost having a downtown core reminiscent of days gone by with it's many historic buildings and facades still maintaining its original charm.
You can also take the River Walk which starts on main street and with a view of the water tumbling over falls. There are many boutique shops, restaurants, galleries, 2 quilt stores and antique shops to peruse along the main street and if you still have left over energy to shop, the Handmade Harvest Craft Show at the Old Town Hall at 14 Bridge Street has over 50 vendors. You can plan a wonderful day around your visit to the Christmas in the Valley Artisan Show!
