Living
the life of an urban gypsy was never the most 'settling' thing but it
had its pros and cons. There was always an adventure for us to explore
new places, since my father who was a class one gazetted officer would
be transferred to beautiful cities all over the country like, Assam,
Jabalpir, Bhopal, Chennai, Kodaikanal, Madurai, Rajkot, Jaipur and
finally Delhi. Delhi had to be the final destination and the 'period' of
the life-long journey which we were a part of. So this called in for a
pursuit of a beautiful abode in New Delhi, which we could call our home.
Delhi is known for its places like Old Delhi, Mehrauli, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Gate and Cannaught place which has remnants of the ancient past which still lingers on in the monuments. The old ancient forts and tombs peppered across the north Delhi and the south Delhi areas speaks of what the place endured even before our time. So, owning a home in Delhi naturally becomes a process of becoming a part of the constant entropy the city has witnessed.

Many
of the students would prefer living in North Delhi, due to the easy
commute to the Delhi University campus. The JNU or the Jawaharlal Nehru
University is popular among students who are pursuing post-graduation
and their PhDs, which is in south Delhi. Although Jamia Millia Islamia
which is situated in the south-east part of Delhi is also known and the
next best choice after DU. The South campus and the Ignou are also
situated in the southern part of Delhi. So if we were still pursuing
higher studies, we ought to have found a good deal around these areas,
which was however not meant to be.
Gurgaon,
Noida and Faridabad happen to be the growing cyber cities which are
brimming with top-notch MNCs such as IBM, HCL, TCS, Accenture, Wipro,
Google, Microsoft, RBS etc. So obviously, the whole of the middle class,
educated strata of the deli would be willing to relocate to areas
around these MNC hubs. However, the things that these people would have
to compromise on would be the peace and serenity of the central Delhi,
the greenery of Mehrauli, Saket and INA, the shopping escapades of Old
Delhi, Lajpat and Nehru place.
