You buy some Shell lube for your motorcycle and you win something memorable. This was what happened to seven lucky Shell Advance customers who won an all expenses paid road trip to Langkawi recently.
The seven are Keith Ow, 29, from Penang; Ng Yao Ding, 29, from Ipoh; Zahed Abdul Rahman, 43 and wife, Hamidah Hassan, 43, from Rawang; Koong Wai Hoong, 32, and Shamsul Ridzuan Idris, 42, from Kuala Lumpur; and Miazil Harina Jores, 28, from Johor Bahru. All of them were winners of the Shell Advance #Advance2Langkawi consumer contest held in December last year.
The road trip happened on the 18th of May to the 22nd of May 2016. Shell Advance provided a complimentary oil change of Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology for the bikes. Throughout the almost 1,200km round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi and back, all the bikes were fuelled by Shell V-Power.
It may only be Langkawi, and not Phuket which is a destination most Malaysian bikers would love to end up in but I think the ferry ride to Langkawi is a unique experience for the winners too. The RORO (Roll on Roll Off) ferry service to Langkawi is fairly new and it allows cars and bikes from the mainland to reach the island. It beats renting a car there. From experience, the cars rented on Langkawi are of varying quality (I have rented a car there which had bald tyres. Yes, sad but true) and bringing your own car or bike is a good thing. For these people, it is even better as Shell Advance paid for the trip! More contests would be great for consumers.

SEVEN WIN ALL-EXPENSES PAID BIKE ROAD TRIP TO LANGKAWI WITH SHELL ADVANCE
Kuala Lumpur, May 23, 2016 – Seven lucky motorcycle enthusiasts have won an all-expense paid 5-day 4-night road trip to Langkawi as winners of the Shell Advance #Advance2Langkawi consumer contest held in December last year.
The seven are Keith Ow, 29, from Penang; Ng Yao Ding, 29, from Ipoh; Zahed Abdul Rahman, 43 and wife, Hamidah Hassan, 43, from Rawang; Koong Wai Hoong, 32, and Shamsul Ridzuan Idris, 42, from Kuala Lumpur; and Miazil Harina Jores, 28, from Johor Bahru.
The Shell Advance contest attracted more than 700 entries. The winners were chosen based on the best road-trip photos that they had uploaded and shared on social media with the hashtag #Advance2Langkawi.
As part of the preparations for the road-trip from May 18 till 22, 2016, Shell Advance provided a complimentary oil change for the winners’ bikes so that they could experience the sustained power and a smoother ride with Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology. Throughout the almost 1,200km round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi and back, all the bikes would be fuelled by Shell V-Power.
Shell Lubricants General Manager – Malaysia and Singapore, Leslie Ng, said that the unique consumer contest was another unique initiative by Shell Advance to reach out to Malaysian bikers.

For fellow Kawasaki Versys 650 owner Zahed from Rawang, the Shell Advance sponsored road-trip would be special as he would be riding with his wife, Hamidah.
"I would like to thank Shell Malaysia for creating an amazing contest for me to experience the best of Malaysia on two wheels. My wife and are looking forward to this occasion as it has been a while since we went on a long break together. The best part really is that we are going to do it on my own bike that is now lubricated with a one-of-its-kind oil,” he said.
